Le Bourg is a traditional Charentaise house, formerly a vineyard owner's property. It is located amongst the vines and sunflowers of the Charente countryside, yet within easy reach of the beaches around La Rochelle and Royan. The house is nearly 300 years old and still retains many original features, including marble fireplaces. Now run as a bed and breakfast / chambres d'hôtes, we have three guest bedrooms and a private, secluded swimming pool. As well as breakfast, we serve evening meals, with many of our menus based on recipes we have collected during our travels. Le Bourg provides the perfect setting for a relaxing and comfortable stay in an informal and casual atmosphere. The village of Mareuil is not far from the popular riverside towns of Jarnac and Cognac and nearby local activities include golf, swimming, canoeing, fishing, cycling, river trips, wine and cognac tasting.

After more than 30 years of working and living in different parts of the world we have finally set down roots and made Charente our home. It really is a lovely, unspoilt part of the world. We look forward to welcoming you to Le Bourg and hope you will enjoy your stay with us.
